Our story begins as Kat and Kris walk down the alley on their way home from school. On the asphalt in front of them lay something shiny, catching Kat's eye, she was constantly on a search for money. She ran ahead and picked it up off the ground. "Darn, this isn't money! Just a pack of cards, let's play poker!" Kat said jokingly.

"Those are the cards my brother plays with, weird he usually spends like, four bucks on them. Do you want me to give them to him?" Kris asked.

"No way! This could get me some cash!"

"Ha ha ha" Kris laughed.

"Hey, look," Kat said opening the package and looking through the cards. "Looks like luck is with us today, these are all holographic! There's one of those 'Magicians,' wait, there's another, a girl one." She looked through the rest of the cards before returning them to the package. Then she looked at Kris, who was fixing her backpack, then back at the cards. "I know I'm underage, but either I'm drunk, or these cards are ... exploding!" Kat said, throwing the package down onto the street.

"What are you talking about?" Kris asked without looking up, "You're always drunk!"

"Humph, funny." Kat said moving towards the card package, which was now emitting rays of light and sparks. "Is this how you're brother's cards always act?"

"What do you mean?" Kris asked, looking up for the first time. "What the heck is going on?"

A blinding flash lit the area, and when the light subsided, Kat and Kris were gone.

Kat sat up, rubbing her head. "Wha-?"

"Whats going on?" Kris asked.

"You know just as well as I do," replied Kat. "But wed better figure this out. Ill go ask for directions to an exit in that little card shop over there."

As Kat disappeared through the door, Kris looked around at her surroundings. It was almost like home, but a little cleaner and much more commercialized.

Kat walked through the door and saw rows of playing cards similar to the pack that she had found on the ground just a little while earlier. She walked to the back of the shop where a little old man with unkempt gray hair sat on a stool. When he didnt say anything, Kat asked, "Can you tell me how to get out of here?"

"Just walk back through that door, the way you came in. Most people just figure that out on their own, though," the old man told her with an edge of sarcasm on his voice.

"No, not out of the store, you stupid old man! I meant how can I get out of this strange world weve fallen into!"

The old man replied by saying, "you must be crazy because to start, I only see one of you. Secondly, I have no idea what youre talking about. Now get out of my store and stop harassing me before I have to kick you out of my store permanently." He glared at her while threateningly grabbed a broom that was leaning against the wall.

"Grrrrr! Well, thanks a lot, because you have been no help at all!" Kat said, turning and stomping out of the shop. When she got outside, she glared at Kris before sitting down on the curb and pouting. "If theres one thing Ive learned from these people, its that theyre no help whatsoever!"

"Uhhh, well maybe you werent very persuasive. Ill go talk to him," Kris said before walking inside. As she walked to the back of the store where the old man was sitting, she asked, "Sir, can you tell me where I am. I seem to be lost."

"Well right now your in my card shop."

"And what city would your card shop be in?"

"I think its... Domino City, or something to that effect." the old man answered.

"Thanks," she answered, leaving the shop.

When she got outside, she nudged Kat, "Lets find a phone, or something. I have the feeling that were gonna have a long stay."

They stood up and shook the dirt from the curb off their clothes, Kat turned to Kris and said, "This place is odd. What if we have to stay here for-" She never finished her sentence, because she walked right into a boy walking towards the shop.

"Im sorry!" he said, she turned around, and looked at him.

"Its okay," Kris answered for her.

"Uhhh..." he said, staring at Kat. Kat looked at Kris, wondering if there was something on her face.

"Yami!" someone called, running towards them, followed by three more guys. They seemed to be his friends.

"Uhhh... Hi guys," he said, finally removing his eyes from Kat. She looked over at Kris and shrugged, motioning towards "Yami." Kris stifled a laugh.

"Where have you been?" asked the shortest one, gasping for breath, he looked a lot like Yami, except that he was much shorter. Brothers?

"I was just out getting some stuff for your grandpa at the store." He said motioning towards the bag in his hand.

"Then who are they?" asked a blonde haired boy about the same height as Yami.

"Oh, I accidentally ran into them." He said.

His blonde friend looked at them, and said, "Hello lovely ladies, my name is Joey, and I hope that my rude friend here didnt bother you two."

"Not at all," Kat said to Joey with a smile. Then looked back at Yami. "We are sorta-"

"Not from around here." Kris butted in before Kat could say anything crazy.

"Thank you Kris," Kat said glaring at her. "We were just wondering if you knew of anywhere we could stay for a time, since we dont know how long that will be."

"You would be welcome to stay with us!" Joey said. "You could have my room, and-"

"He would be glad to move out of it." The tall brown-haired one finished for him, with an evil look towards Joey.

"Thank you Tristin!" he said, glaring at his friend. "I would be glad to." He said to Kat with a flourish.

She looked at him, flirting back, she winked. "Sure, I would be glad to take up your offer." Everyone turned and walked back inside the shop. Oh no, I didnt know you lived here! She thought, worriedly. Not the old man! She was about to turn around when Kris caught her and gave her as big a shove towards the door as she could (she was shorter than Kat). Kat looked back at her with a scowl, and Joey motioned for her to follow him inside. She complied, and everyone filed inside.

"Hello Grandpa, we were wondering if our friends here could stay with us for a while, they need somewhere to stay, PLEASE!" the short one said.

"Well," the old man said looking at Kat, "I dont know."

Kat shifted uneasily.

"But, since Yugi says theyre his friends I guess they can stay, for a little while." he added looking skeptically at Kat.

"Thanks Grandpa!" the one called Yugi said. He motioned towards Kat and Kris, "Lets go find your rooms."

They walked up a narrow staircase that led out into a long hall. I never would have guessed that such a little shop had so much living space, I guess thats why the shops little. Yugi told them who slept where as they passed each door.

"This is where Grandpa, you can call him Solomon, sleeps." He motioned towards the door to his right, the one closest to the stairs. That means "Jerk" in my opinion! Kat thought maliciously. "And this one is my room." he said, pointing to the door on the left, he seemed to be going in the same pattern, right, left, so I dont need to explain where he pointed. "This door is Yamis room, and this one is Joeys, and the last one is Tristins." They turned back and walked into Joeys room, and Joey, had walked in before them, trying to clean up the mess. He already had started packing his stuff when Yugi had asked permission for them to stay.

He looked at Yugi, "Are you sure these ladies want me to move out?" he asked stretching to look bored with the question.

Kat and Kris exchanged amused looks, but Yugi looked at him, blushing at the question, even though he knew it was a joke, "Yeah Joey."

Joey shrugged, and slung the bags over his shoulder. When he was just outside the door, he turned back, "If you change your mind..." he started.

Yugi didnt even bother to tell him off for the question, but instead, he slammed the door in Joeys face. Kris blushed, but not because of what Joey had said...

"Sorry about my friend, hes not all there in the head." Yugi said jokingly.

"I heard that Yugi, youd better not sleep too heavily tonight!" Joey threatened.

Yugi shook his head, and said "Well, Id better let you two get settled in, its cool that youre staying here." he told Kris, and left them alone.

"Well, well, well." Kat said teasingly, "I see whats going on."

Kris blushed, avoiding the comment, "Have you even thought about how we are going to eat? We have no money. We only have one pair of clothes each!"

"I do so have money!" Kat corrected, "I have one hundred and fifty-six bucks on me."

"Thats not that much." Kris said earnestly.

Kat answered by throwing a pillow from the bed at her. It hit squarely. Kris threw it back, but Kat blocked it with another pillow, and put both of them on the bed.

"Should we go get jobs or something?" Kat asked.

"Well, thats not a bad idea," Kris admitted, "I guess."

Kat smiled, "Lets go burn the town!"

They left the room and told Yugi, who they just happened to pass about their plan. "I think thats a great idea!" he said enthusiastically.

"Where do you guys work?" Kat asked.

"Oh, we dont." He replied.

"Whats that supposed to mean? You guys just get free food and clothes?" Kat asked sarcastically.

"Oh no, we are all duelists. Except Tristin, he just kinda, uh, borrows from us..." Yugi said.

"Well, lets go Kris." Kat said, turning towards the door.

"Ill come too," Yugi said, "dont want you guys getting lost or something."

The End
